LACQUER BOXESFor oversize prints, the lacquer box is an economical and attractive alternative to more traditional framing. The lacquer finish provides a dramatic and effective way of framing. Your poster is permanently mounted on a wooden box, which is then given multi-stage coatings of lacquer that serve to protect and conserve the art. We do not suggest framing any original art in this manner as the mounting process is permanent and irreversible.
Texture I - Jonathan Parsons Lacquer boxes are available in various colors and edgings. Shown above is the latest bronze edge. Another popular style is the bull-nose edging in red-gold, particularly for classical works.
Coquelicots, environs d'Argenteuil - Monet Another best seller has been a rustic-look lacquer box which we use for sepia toned works. Here, the lacquer is applied in rough strokes and a matte finish is added to the final coat. The edging of the box slopes outwards rather than being flat.
Many different edge designs are available, as well as metallic textures and bright new colors.
