GREAT JOB! (March 2010)Become a fan on facebook and you will automatically be This month we feature one of two Egyptian scenes on papyrus-style paper which our client brought in for framing after going on a tour of Egypt. The larger of the two scenes was floated on a black mat and we used a gold aluminum frame. The smaller of the two is shown below.
Corner view To start of with, we floated the picture on a black suede mat. The reason for using a suede matboard with this piece was to complement the color intensity of the image. We used a new aluminum frame from the Nielsen range. The top and inner section of this frame was silver with a thin black border. The side of the frame was solid black.
To complete the framing we used a spacer bar to keep the glass from touching the picture. Because our client stated that the piece was going to hang in a room with a lot of light, we used a UV (conservation) reflection control glass by TruVue. Generally, it is a good idea to use non-glare glass when framing with a dark-colored matboard. Dark colors tend to cast more of a glare than the lighter-colored matboards.
