FEATURED ARTIST - May 2007Will RafuseWill Rafuse was born in Calgary, Alberta, and he grew up living on
the Canadian prairies. After graduating with a degree in Graphic Arts
and Illustration from Capilano College in Vancouver, Rafuse continued
his studies by earning another degree in Computer Graphics and
Multimedia from Vancouver Community College. His education and decidedly
modern style and perspective helped create a body of work that is both
reminiscent of styles past and at the same time uniquely modern.
Rafuse began painting professionally at Stanley Park's Painter's Corner in Vancouver in 1994. It was here that he began developing his trademark style: paintings filled with lively, colorful characters and backdrops. His paintings are at once plebeian and sophisticated, and their light style makes them irresistible to many art lovers.
Will Rafuse has been very active since the beginning of his career in helping and promoting non-profit community activities. He has contributed many works to charity and community organizations in an effort to use his art to help those around him.
The paintings of Will Rafuse have become quite popular over the last decade, perhaps due to their whimsical, almost jovial style and tone. Rafuse's paintings often feature a smiling, bobblehead-looking waiter or chef looking directly at you, and his style is somewhat reminiscent of television or comic strip cartoons. PosterCheckOut carries a wide range of Rafuse works reproduced in high-quality poster prints.
