FEATURED ARTIST - February 2006
Warren CullarWarren Cullar has been a professional artist for 28 years and was a professor of art for eight years. He loves to give back to others and has generously passed his talents on to a growing number of apprentices and colleagues. Warren spends his days enthusiastically creating new art in acrylics, watercolor paintings, etchings and his latest passion, bronze sculpture.
After receiving a BFA from Abilene Christian College and a MFA from the Instituto Allende, in Guanajuato, Mexico, he studied with such artists as Bud Biggs, Robert E. Wood and Edgar Whitney. A study grant to Egypt in 1976 started him on his world travels where he has participated in scientific expeditions by contributing his artistic talents. He has captured the fun and enthusiasm of his travels by sketching daily, and creating new works upon returning to the studio - except on those occasions when he takes the studio with him.
His vivid and compelling watercolors, acrylics, etchings and sculptures are displayed in collections throughout the world. Warren and his wife, Kitty Biel, live in their North Austin home, with Warren's two studios and sculpture garden. Warren has been selling through juried exhibitions for 29 years averaging 12 shows per year as a full time professional artist.
